Founded in 2004, The Music Grove has been successfully teaching piano and keyboard to students of all ages, from 5 upwards.
Teachers Ben Crosland and Richard Alderson have many years prior experience in music pedagogy, and have developed a cohesive, yet flexible approach to suit the individual needs of any student, from the earliest beginner, all the way up to Grade 8.
A Genuine Life-Skill
All our students are taught to read music from the very first lesson. A wide variety of musical styles are covered, to ensure the flexibility that the modern musician requires if they are to play Beethoven as confidently as they play Brubeck.
You'll be glad to hear that piano lessons have come a long way since the days of the 'ruler over the knuckles' approach you've no doubt heard about from your grandparents! Our philosophy is that learning music should always be rewarding, and that the ultimate goal for every student should be to attain not only a good level of technical ability, but also the understanding of notation, interpretation and musicality that helps to make a well-rounded, independent musician.
This way, they will have acquired a genuine life-skill that they can enjoy indefinitely, no matter what kind of music they enjoy.
